It is an undeniable fact that I, Craig Raucher, have been able to modify the basketball scenario in the Brooklyn region in New York. I have been able to develop the tradition of an amateur basketball league, thanks to my hard work and vision. This particular league is beneficial for individuals of different backgrounds and professions. It is my vision and dedication that has completely transformed the Staten Island Basketball League into a competitive and lively corner for the local basketball buffs.
I founded this league in the year 1980, and it has recently become 44 years old. Moreover, the game has been played all these years in one of the oldest public educational centers on this island at PS 8 in Great Kills. It is Principal Lisa Esposito who is responsible for operating the school, and she has given me a new place to hold the basketball matches.
It is not like any other league
If you are not familiar, I would like to mention that the Staten Island Basketball League is not similar or any other league. One can consider it to be a community responsible for bringing players of all ages together and having different skill levels as well. I have worked tirelessly to elevate this league to greater heights. My involvement in this league is a lifelong commitment to the game as well as the community. It is my leadership that has transformed the league completely, and it has been fine-tuned into a properly lubricated machine that will turn basketball dreams into reality.
I, Craig Raucher, have observed that many newspaper articles have emphasized this league as their main subject during the last few years. It has been able to attract several notable players from this island, as well as from Brooklyn during the last four decades. I think that we are operating this league as a high-level and competitive basketball game instead of a traditional league. Incidentally, the present age of the players varies between 30 and 75 years.
Emphasis on youth development
One particularly notable feature of my tenure happens to be my emphasis on the development of the youth. This basketball league has been able to implement different programs under my watchful eye for the purpose of engaging and empowering young and promising sportsmen. Apart from being about basketball skills, these types of initiatives are also about teaching the essential essence of life like teamwork, resilience, and discipline.
I, Craig Raucher, have estimated that in excess of 360 players have participated in this league during the last 44 years. It happens to be a combination of players from virtually every walk of life. For example, there had been ex-convicts, detectives, police captains, former drug dealers and abusers, fire department lieutenants, stockbrokers, alcoholics anonymous attendees, businessmen, surgeons, and so forth.
The future of this league
There is no doubt that the future of the Staten Island Basketball League is bright since I am contemplating expanding the impact of the league on the community. I always try to supervise the proceedings of this league while managing other tasks related to business in my personal life. It is a fact that this league is in safe hands right now. I hope that this league will become bigger with more players in the upcoming days.
